Frequently Asked Questions

We recognize that many people who visit a church for the first time do so with some uncertainty, but we hope that you feel warmly welcomed + comfortable at Niantic Community Church. NCC is a spiritual home to people from all walks and stations of life: believers + questioners, people from a range of backgrounds + faith perspectives, who come together to worship God, become more like Jesus + serve God’s creation.

We have highlighted some key information in this section, but the best way to get to know NCC is to talk with the people here. Don’t hesitate to strike up a conversation with our pastors, greeters, or the people in your pew, and learn more about our life of worship, fellowship + service together.

  • Our worship service is held each Sunday at 9:00 a.m.

  • NCC is located at 170 Pennsylvania Avenue (Rte 161) in Niantic — about 2-½ miles south of I-95’s exit 74, and about ½ mile north of the Long Island Sound. We have a spacious parking lot, though some days it can fill up. When the lot is full, there is a public parking area about 300 yards north, opposite the Sunoco station.

  • As you enter the church, an usher will greet you and give you a bulletin to guide you through the service. Worship typically features scripture reading, preaching, prayer + music. At times, you will be invited to stand in body or spirit, sing, pray, greet your neighbor, be in silence, or read responsively.

Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month, and at special services like Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday. Our communion table is open to everyone—baptized or not, confessed or not, sure or not,.

At all of our services we maintain the ancient Christian practice of receiving an offering to support the church’s ministries. We welcome your gifts + encourage everyone to live a life marked by generosity. If you are unable to give financially, please consider an offering of time or talent to the church, another organization, or a neighbor in need.

  • Children + families of all sorts are welcome and cherished at Niantic Community Church. Church School programs are offered on Sundays for children in pre-kindergarten through high school.

  • Come as you are! Some people come dressed in their Sunday best. Others dress more casually. Either way, we believe that God cares more about the state of our hearts than the state of our attire, and encourage you to dress the way that feels most appropriate to you.
