NCC Children’s Center
Established in 1983 in response to an overwhelming local need for quality childcare, The Niantic Community Church Children’s Center is a licensed, non-profit Early Childhood Program owned and operated by the Niantic Community Church. We are a secular school; you do not need to be a member of the church to attend. The center is family-oriented and has an outstanding reputation in the community.
Our school is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). A large, nonprofit association in the United States representing early childhood education teachers, center directors and families of young children, the NAEYC accredits early childhood programs according to health, safety and education standards and enables them to deliver the highest quality early care and education.
Our goal is to provide a safe, warm and loving environment where staff promote positive concepts within the classroom.
We are a family-oriented center and hold Family Events almost monthly throughout the school year which enable parents to become acquainted with and support each other. Our programs stress: Independence, Friendship Building, Peer Problem Solving, Creativity, Self Esteem, Relaxed Environment, and Play-Based Learning.
We believe that children learn best when they are actively involved in their own learning. We emphasize learning through enriched play experiences and social interaction. We value the unique opportunities to nurture each individual’s personality, learning style and cultural identity.
Our classrooms are carefully arranged to provide for a wide range of opportunities for children to explore, discover and manipulate in the world around them. A child may choose from center activities such as Art, Science, Reading, Cooking, Blocks & Cars, Puzzles, Dramatic Play, Games and Manipulatives.
Niantic Community Church Children’s Center is very proud that they are the only center that holds Family Events on almost a monthly basis. These events help the families to become acquainted, support and advise each other. The events are a Family Potluck and Open House, Harvest Party, Thanksgiving Luncheon, Festival of Lights, Pajama Day, Winter Brunch, Spring Egg Hunt, Ice Cream Social and Preschool Graduation.
